Karen Patricia May

Karen Patricia (Kiser) May, 72, of Boonsboro, MD, Passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Doey's House, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born March 14, 1952 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of Geneiveve (Hykes) Kiser and the late Zane Kiser. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Douglas C. May; sons, Ryan D. May and Travis C. May (wife Hannah), and father-in-law Roy L. May, Jr., all living in Boonsboro; brothers Dennis Kiser (wife Vicki), Chambersburg; Curtis Kiser (wife Beth), Richmond; Charles Kiser (wife Jamie), Greencastle; and sister Cheryl Kiser, Greencastle. She was cherished by her family including many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews, and close friends.

Karen was a 1970 graduate of Chambersburg Area High School. She had a successful career at Martins Food as a Deli Manager for 43 years and retired in 2017. After retirement, she enjoyed working part-time at Turn The Page Bookstore in Boonsboro. Karen also occasionally worked with her husband at Mullendore's Auction House. Karen was also a member of the Washington County Rural Heritage Museum serving as a board member, special events, and volunteered many hours baking and working fundraisers. Karen was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Boonsboro.

Karen was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She was a special and talented person who loved baking cakes, cooking, growing and arranging flowers, helping others, was an avid reader, and spending time with family and friends, especially the holidays. Special thanks to Conda and Mike Slick and Cindy and Nelson Reeder for their support in her time of need.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home ( 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD 21713). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, (64 S. Main Street, Boonsboro, MD 21713). Internment will be nearby at Boonsboro Cemetery following services.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the John Marsh Cancer Center and the Hospice staff both inhome and Doey's house for the exceptional care that was given to Karen.
