Katherine Geisbert Trout

Mrs. Katherine Geisbert Trout, 90, of Walkersville, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2007, at Northampton Manor in Frederick.

She was born July 28, 1916, in Woodsboro, to the late Claude and Alice Geisbert. Mrs. Trout was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Gilmore C. Trout, a former burgess of Walkersville.

Katherine was active in the community as a member of the Walkersville United Methodist Church, the Walkersville Fire Company Auxiliary, the Walkersville Grange, the Walkersville Homemakers and the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She made a lifelong commitment to her family and was considered by many to be the neighborhood mom. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and playing cards with friends and family.

Mrs. Trout is survived by her two sons, Edwin Trout and wife Ann of Ellicott City and Michael Trout and wife Sandra of Frederick; four grandchildren, William Trout of Brinklow, David Trout and wife Amelia of Leesburg, Va., Kimberly Trout of Arlington, Va., and Kelly Lyford and husband Paul of Raleigh, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Trout, Liam Trout and Luke Lyford. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Maxine Murray of Woodsboro and Louise Trout of Walkersville; a brother-in-law, Nelson Trout of Walkersville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one son, Larry Trout; and her sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Steiner Smith.

Mrs. Trout will be remembered by her three caregivers of numerous years, Louise Young, Carole Fouche and Sandy Powell.


Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 40 Fulton Ave., Walkersville, on Thursday, Jan. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services: Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. at Walkersville United Methodist Church, 221 Main St., Walkersville, with the Rev. Stephen W. Humphrey officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walkersville United Methodist Church, 22 Main St., Walkersville, MD 21793.
