Kathleen Hodgkins Martin

Kathleen Hodgkins Martin, 57, last residing in Hummelstown, PA, but also a longtime resident of Mechanicsburg, PA and Westminster, MD, passed away on October 25, 2023 at her residence.  Born December 5, 1965, in Olney, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Hodgkins and Joan Lee Hodgkins. 

Kathleen graduated from South Carroll High School in 1983, Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) in 1987 and Mt. St. Mary's University in 1996 with her MBA.  She excelled in her careers as a high school math teacher at Westminster High School in MD, software developer, technical team manager, program manager and project manager at EDS, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, NASCO and Lonza. 

Throughout her life, Kathleen gave back to the community by coaching high school softball, coaching special olympics softball, serving on the board of the Arthritis Foundation of Central PA, and volunteering at One80 Ministries, most recently. 

Before being slowed by illnesses, Kathleen enjoyed activities such as golf, soccer, crafting, spending time with family and riding her bike.  Above all, being a mom to Grace brought her the most joy and filled her with the most pride.  She loved Grace beyond measure and they especially loved going to festivals and visiting the duck pond together. 

Kathleen was a Christian, had a strong faith in God and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, PA. 

Kathleen was preceded in death by her mother, Joan Lee Hodgkins, her father, Joseph Hodgkins, a brother, Joseph Hodgkins Jr. and sister in law, Sharon Hodgkins.  

Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Grace Martin; brothers, Denis Hodgkins and wife, Vicki, Mark Hodgkins and partner, Marlene Lewis and Kevin Hodgkins; Goddaughter, Lindsey Miller; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Tuesday, November 7, 2023  at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont, MD where a celebration of Kathleen's life journey will take place at 11am. Rev. Tim May will officiate.  Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery.
