Kathleen Jean Wagner

Sep 11, 1955 — Aug 31, 2026

Knoxville, MD

Listen to Obituary

Kathleen Jean Wagner was born on Sept 11, 1955 in Bethesda, MD. She was the daughter of the late Robert P. Nicholson and Barbara Lewis Nicholson. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Matthew K. Phillips.

She graduated from Poolesville High School in 1973. She had four precious babies by the time she was 24 years old; Kris, Jake, Brit and Matt. Besides her belief in God and Jesus, her children were the greatest joy in her life, besides their spouses, grandchildren and dear friends like Jean Schramm and Kelley Hoffman and others who are currently in heaven.

She worked at several health insurance companies and always went the extra mile to ensure patient claims were paid as the benefits allowed. She felt people going through hard times with an illness did not need to fight their insurance companies to pay for their bill correctly. She lived in Maryland, San Antonio, TX, (everything is bigger and better in Texas) and Fort Wayne, Indiana (she missed the hills of MD)

Kathleen enjoyed making people laugh, even with her singing. She liked helping people, even if it was just listening. She would say, “a simple smile can bring joy to another having a bad day, just a simple smile”

Ms. Wagner is survived by her son Jacob Wagner and wife Jaime of Walkersville, MD; Kristina Schramm and husband Kevin of Poolesville, MD; Brittany Wagner and husband Jason of Knoxville, MD. She is also survived by grandchildren Matthew, Logan, Kaitlyn, Avery and Emma, all of whom she loves dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Kathleen to Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, Department of Neurology or Internal Medicine, 3800 Reservoir Road, NW, Washington DC 20007

A Gathering of Friends will be held on September 11, 2026 from 12pm-1pm, at Stauffer Funeral Home. A service will follow at 1 pm with Rev. Tim May presiding. A private graveside will follow.

Heaven, What Death Really Means...(Do Not Fear Death)

Don't be sad.

I saw Heaven long before my body died.

It is a beautiful, joyful, peaceful place...more than you can ever imagine.

Do not cry for me.

Instead, every time you hear a joyful noise, think of me.

Do not think of me as dead but on a trip to a better place.

You will miss me but remember I am always with you in heart, and we will be together again when the time is right.

When that time does come, we will sing and dance together in the Grace of God.

Do not mourn me, but celebrate the new life I now have with joy and laughter...

And Make a Joyful noise.

I love you all. May Peace be with You!
