Kathy Thomas

Kathy Elizabeth Thomas, 67, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD. She was the loving wife of Joseph "Joe" Thomas.

Born on January 19, 1955, in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late J. William "Bill" Howard, Jr. and Irma (Huffer) Howard.

She graduated from Governor Thomas Johnson High School, Class of 1973.

Kathy was the office manager for a local Maryland McDonald's Franchise for many years, and also was employed as an accountant with a local firm in Rockville, MD. After that, she started a residential and commercial cleaning company and was soon joined by her husband. The business grew and has thrived for over 20 years! Kathy felt rewarded to develop lifelong friendships with many of her clients.

Kathy was a member of International Community Church for over 20 years, where she served as a member of the hostess team. Additionally, she was a member of Self Employed Business of America.

Kathy grew up on a dairy farm where she had a pony named Sandy and developed a love of horses. She had a love for animals in general, especially lap dogs. She was an accomplished gardener and interior decorator with an artist's eye. She placed the most importance on family, and loved Christmas and hosting family dinners. She was a strong person who had a strong spirit. Her faith in the Lord continued to grow throughout her lifetime. Her family loved her very much and she will be missed by so many.

Kathy was a very dedicated wife and mother. She opened her heart to all and would help anyone in need of a blessing. She will be missed but never forgotten. She fought a hard battle to the end and it's good to know, she is at peace with the Lord!.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children Jon Phelps Jr., his wife Stephanie and son, Garrett, and Michael Phelps, his wife Liezel, and children from a previous marriage Mea, Sonay, and Christian. She is also survived by step-children, Jade Thomas, and her son Kenwon and daughter Madison, and Nathan Thomas, his wife LaToya, and children, Brooklyn and Carter. She is survived by her  brother Kevin Howard, his wife Marilyn, and daughter, Jen Kahan with her husband Wolfgang. She is also survived by other loving step-children, grandchildren, and many cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.

A celebration of Kathy's life journey will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at International Community Church, 123 Byte Drive in Frederick, MD.  Pastor Todd Rigney will officiate.

Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
