Damascus

Keith A. Harpster, age 68, of Damascus, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026.

Born on August 16, 1957, in Belleville, Pennsylvania, Keith was the son of the late James A. and Theresa A. Harpster.

Keith is survived by his devoted wife, Kimberly; his daughters, Jennifer Harpster and Ashley Diglisic; his daughter-in-law, Angelie Bayarcal; his sister, Joann R. Lew of Florida; his brother, Michael Harpster of Virginia; and his six beloved grandchildren, Kara, Mila, Nikola, Oliver, Luka, and Nathan. He also leaves behind his loyal companion, Kamo, who was rarely far from his side.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jason M. Harpster, whose memory Keith carried with him always and honored throughout his life.

Keith’s grandchildren were one of the greatest joys of his life. He cherished every moment they spent together and took immense pride in each of them. Kara held an especially close place in his heart, having been raised by Keith and loved as one of his own. His time with the grandchildren whether working on projects, sharing laughs, or simply having them nearby meant more to him than words could express.

An avid outdoorsman, Keith found peace and happiness in nature. He loved fishing and hunting pheasant, turkey, and whitetail deer, but even more than the sport itself, he treasured the time spent in the woods. Those moments, often shared with family and lifelong friends, became some of his most meaningful memories and stories, ones he held close and spoke of often.

Keith found great success as an electrical contractor, building a respected business through hard work, skill, and determination. That success allowed him to pursue other passions, including thoroughbred breeding and horse racing. He poured his heart into Mezza Luna Farm, his 30-acre home in Damascus, where horses were boarded and dreams took shape. The farm was truly his pride and joy, a place he continuously worked to improve, investing countless hours and boundless energy into making it what it is today. Ever the electrician and problem-solver, Keith was endlessly handy, whether fixing something around the farm, upgrading equipment, or “souping up” a Power Wheel for his grandchildren. Never one to sit still, he was always planning the next project, including the creation of Hunter’s Park Campground, so others could come and enjoy the beauty and care he had poured into the land.

Keith will be remembered most for the way he made people feel. His generosity went far beyond a warm welcome. His home and heart were always open, and he was quick to help anyone in need, whether family, friend, or acquaintance. His bright smile could light up a room, and his spirit was both jovial and energetic. He had a genuine interest in everyone he spoke with and a gift for making people feel seen and valued. A natural fixer, Keith was always offering solutions, always trying to mend what was broken. Above all else, his love for his family was unwavering and limitless. There was nothing he would not do for those he loved.
