Kenneth Martz, 89, of Walkersville, passed from this life on Monday, January 20, 2025 at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.
Born on June 27, 1935, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Lewis Joseph Martz and Harriet Genevieve (Shook) Martz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor M. Martz.
Ken was a 1953 graduate of Frederick High School. He was employed by RF Kline until his retirement in 1999.
Ken was a member of the Friends of Gettysburg Foundation and St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Walkersville.
On Sundays, he could be found spending time with his sons, daughter-in-law, and his grandchildren. In the summertime, he would share the fruits of his labor enjoying barbeques with fresh corn on the cob and other veggies from his garden. His home-grown potatoes, artfully hand-cut into shoestrings, were deep fried to perfection. He loved to watch football games with his sons every weekend. Ken was known for his sharp mind and being witty with a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his eldest son, Joseph E. Martz and his wife, Suzette, of Middletown, and his youngest son, David L. Martz of Walkersville; his grandchildren, Aaron D. Martz, Alexis L. Martz and Joshua A. Martz; and his precious great-grandson, Noah D. Martz. Ken was a wonderful father, father-in-law, and Paw-Paw.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Alma May (Martz) Boyer.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 40 Fulton Avenue in Walkersville.
