Laura Savona Bradley, 69, of Mount Airy, MD, went home to the Lord on Friday, May 23, 2025, surrounded by family at her home after a courageous 4.5-year battle with cancer.
Born on March 1, 1956, in Washington, D.C., Laura was the youngest of three children born to the late Philip Ward and Priscilla Elaine (Griest) Shoemaker. Though a “city girl,” Laura cherished her childhood spring breaks spent with cousins on their farm in Southern Maryland, where her parents dropped off the kids for a week of adventure. From farm chores to learning to plant tobacco, these experiences sparked a lifetime of hilarious and treasured stories she loved to share. A graduate of Walter Johnson High School, Laura later became an office manager for Bethesda Pediatrics, where she worked diligently for 48 years.
Laura’s zest for life shone through her passions: soaking up the sun in Ocean City, MD, hunting for treasures while thrifting, and diving into romance novels. Her vibrant energy and outgoing spirit touched everyone she met. She forged deep, lifelong friendships through her devoted participation in small groups across her church community. In her neighborhood, Laura was a welcoming presence- hosting countless pool parties, church youth events, and playdates for neighborhood children. Her home was a hub of joy, and she was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
Laura is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, James; her beloved children, Aaron (Brittany) of Richmond, VA, and Ashley (Kyle) of Brunswick, MD; as well as her cherished stepchildren, Shaun (Heather) of Abingdon, MD, and Adam (Samantha) of Frederick, MD. She poured boundless love into her nine grandchildren—Star, Georgia, Lyla, Landon, Logan, Waylon, Sutton, Wells, and Hollis. Laura also leaves behind her dear siblings, Karen and Gary, and nephews, Garrett, Jim, and Eric.
A celebration of Laura’s life will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Mountain View Community Church in Frederick, MD.
