Lawrence Reed Holmes, MS, NCC, LCPC
May 5, 1952 - July 9, 2026
Born in Independence, Missouri, to Reed M. Holmes and Dorothy Carter. He lived five years with his family in Australia as a child, one of five siblings, and spent a year as a cowboy in Idaho. He was also a certified RCA technician who serviced analog theater equipment, and he was a founder and member of an IATSE chapter.
He and his surviving wife, now widow, Marielou Holmes, helped create the Jesus Loves Kids Club and served the Walkersville community for many years while raising their three children: Jarah Marie Holmes, Laurin Beth Holmes, and Sean Lawrence Emerson Holmes, along with his two grandsons, Derek James Morgan, and Jase Reed Holmes.
His passion and dedication to Jesus Christ led him to a career in clinical pastoral counseling, serving children and families through therapy. His passions also included all things science, art, and technology, along with creativity in movies and music. His love inspired his children to pursue academia, writing, composing, and the caretaking of others.
His kindness and his forthright convictions and passions have left a glowing mark on those he leaves behind. Lawrence was a kind, funny, caring father, friend, and brother, and his legacy of kindness as a faithful and good servant to our Lord Jesus Christ has left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Fred), 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD where a celebration of Lawrence's life journey will take place at 11 am. Interment will be private.
