Lawrence "Rick" Pierce

Lawrence "Rick" Pierce, III, 62, of Brunswick, Maryland, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at his residence. He was the husband of Barbara Pierce, his wife of 33 years.

Born on June 19, 1961, in New York, he was the son of Lawrence R. Pierce, Jr. of Kingsport, TN and the late Mary Schuttler Pierce.

He was a Life Member of Brunswick Volunteer Fire Department serving for more that 33 years. Rick grew up and graduated high school in Kingsport, TN. He retired from GEICO, worked at Home Depot. He loved his current job as an EMT for Butler Ambulance Service. He was a lifelong follower of University of Tennessee Volunteers and a diehard Washington Redskins fan. But most of all he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson. Rick was always willing to lend a helping hand and will be remembered for his dedication to his community. He was a gentle soul and was a friend to anyone he met. Rick enjoyed his yearly trips to Disney World. 

Surviving in addition to his wife and father are two daughters: Wendy Smith and fiance Roy Davis, III of Harpers Ferry and Kasieopa Myers and husband Jason of Williamsport; five grandchildren: Zachary Smith, Hailey Smith, Joshua Hahn, Jr., Chloe Myers and Skylar Myers; as well as his only great grandson, Mason Snyder; a sister, Mary Hogue and husband Mike of Kingsport, two brothers Herby Pierce and wife Michelle of Roanoke, VA and George Pierce of Kingsport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Sunday, October 29, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 North Maple Avenue, Brunswick, MD 21716, where a celebration of Rick's life will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, October 30.  Interment will be private.
