With sorrow, we announce the passing of Lawrence T. Davis (affectionately known as Teddy, Ted, or TD) who went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at Village Crossing Senior Living in Frederick, Maryland where he resided since July 2025. Prior to that, he was a 40-year resident of Burke, Virginia.
Born December 23, 1940 in Frederick, Maryland to Harry E. Davis and Margaret (Oram) Davis, he was the youngest of seven children and the last surviving sibling. He shared more than 50 years of marriage with the love of his life, the late Annie P. Davis.
Our beloved Ted, a proud 26-year veteran of the United States Army, dedicated much of his life to the service of his country. Completing many tours of duty internationally and domestically, his military career was marked by discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment. After retiring from the Army, Ted continued his devotion to public service through a 30-year career in the federal government, where his professionalism and leadership earned respect of colleagues and friends alike.
A man of faith, Ted was an active member of Greater Little Zion Baptist Church of Fairfax, Virginia, where he served in various roles and ministries, including the Board of Directors, Chess Club, Men’s Ministry, and Seasoned Saints. He found great joy in the games of golf, chess, and bowling cherishing the camaraderie and challenge they brought. He had an insatiable sweet tooth, even in his illenss, often asking for a slice of cake, pie, or a bowl of ice cream - to which we obliged. Ted also valued his time with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, faithfully attending virtual meetings on Thursdays. He and his beloved wife, Annie, traveled extensively with family and friends for leisure, most often aboard cruise ships.
Ted leaves behind to cherish his memory, stepchildren, Calvin Franks, Jr. (Delores) and Debra Stenhouse; in-laws, Leitha Jones, Mary Maynor, Mildred (James) Lewis; three grandchildren, Randy Stenhouse, Detrick Stenhouse, and Jasmine Franks; and two great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by his devoted caregiving and well-being team: niece, Dawn Oram; companion aides, Shirley Jackson, Tjida Kamara, John Sheref; memory care staff at Village Crossing; Frederick Health Hospice; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended church family, and friends, including Deacon Larry Pyos.
In addition to his parents and wife, Annie P. Davis, Ted was preceded in death by sisters, Ann Oram and Margaret Oram; brothers, William Oram, Donald Oram, Howard Davis, Charles Davis; nephews, Dennis Oram, Richard Oram, Lamont Oram; sister-in-law, Lanell Neeley, and brother-in-law, Willie Parks.
While we mourn Ted’s loss, we celebrate his remarkable life of faith, love, and service.
