Leslie McCartney

Leslie Erwin McCartney, 79, of Mount Airy, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Frederick Health Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Lucile McCartney. Born on April 14, 1945, in Fairmont, WV, he was the son of Robert McCartney and Norma (LaRue) McCartney .

He was a math teacher for 25 years for Montgomery County Public Schools. He met his wife while working in the math department at Cabin John Junior High School. He and his family enjoyed traveling, and visited Italy, Spain, Portugal and Brazil among other destinations.

In addition to his wife of 52 years, he is survived by his sons, Pete McCartney and Greg McCartney, a sister, Peggy Wikle and husband Hans and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Mt. Airy), 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy, MD.

A celebration of Leslie's life journey will take place at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. (Mt. Airy), 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
