Leslie Rose Williams passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia, surrounded by the love of her family.
Leslie was born in New Hampshire and raised in Proctor, Vermont, where her childhood was shaped by time spent on farms and the simple joys of close family. Her grandmother, Viola Anderson, was a constant source of love, strength, and inspiration, and those values stayed with Leslie throughout her life. She carried them forward in the way she cared for others, as a nurse, as a mother, and most especially as “Nana” to her grandchildren.
Leslie first married her late husband, David Adams Harper of London, England. Together they built a life in New England and raised four children, later settling in Severna Park, Maryland. Over the years, Leslie made sure the bond with their family in England remained strong, creating lifelong connections and memories that stretched across generations and continents.
She later married Fred Gritman Williams, whom she met at the historic Kent Manor Inn. They made their home in Frederick, Maryland, where Leslie became deeply involved in Calvary United Methodist Church. Through her leadership in the Stephen Ministry, she quietly touched countless lives, offering comfort, compassion, and a listening ear to those going through difficult times. Her kindness was not loud, but it was constant, and it made a difference.
Fred’s family became an important part of Leslie’s life. She welcomed his children and their families with open arms, embracing them as her own and cherishing the time and memories they shared together.
To her family, Leslie was simply “Nana”, the heart and center of it all. She was the one who brought everyone together, organizing family reunions and gatherings so that no one ever felt far apart. She believed deeply in staying connected, in showing up for one another, and in making memories that would last. Her home, her presence, and her love were constants in the lives of those around her.
Leslie will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, her generosity, and the way she made everyone feel cared for. She was truly one of a kind, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her four children: Mickie (Keith), John (Ann), Susan, and Dean. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Sean (Carol), Sydney, Harper (Robbie), Harrison (Sophie), Ryley (Laura), Vanesa, McGarity, and Drew. She is also survived by her cherished great-grandchildren, Ziggy and Olivia, with several more on the way.
She is also survived by her stepchildren: Dale (Lenorah), Gary (Margaret), Cindy (Rick), and Steve. Dale’s children include Kristin, Rachel (Tom), and Jason (Rosemary), with grandchildren Siena and Sol. Gary’s children include Laura and Mark (Stephanie), with grandchildren Ashton and Everett. Steve’s children include Kyndall and Kolten.
In celebration of her life, family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland 21702.
