Listen to Obituary

Mrs. Linda Lou McCoy Germeroth, 84, of Lewistown, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at The Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy.

Born in Williamsburg, West Virginia, on February 21, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Goldie (Jackson) and John Omer McCoy. Growing up, she was heavily involved in 4-H and served as the West Virginia 4-H State Secretary. She graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1960 and attended Berea College in Berea, Kentucky.

She worked as a telephone operator in Washington, D.C., in the early 1960s. While living and working there, she met her husband, Arnold “Andy” Germeroth. The couple married in Williamsburg, West Virginia, on June 13, 1964 and welcomed their daughter, Arlinda, in 1967.

The couple then moved to Frederick, Maryland, in 1971. Linda worked as a realtor before earning her Licensed Practical Nurse certification from Frederick Community College, subsequently working as a nurse for 15 years at the Record Street Home. In her free time, she loved researching her family genealogy and spending time with her family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Andy; four brothers, Warren McCoy, James McCoy, Wayne McCoy, and Robert McCoy; and two sisters, Wanda Perry and Addie Childs.

She is survived by her daughter, Arlinda (Jeffrey) Sothoron; her three granddaughters, Olivia (Devin) Garner, Leah McCoy Sothoron, and Tara Noelle Sothoron, who were her pride and joy; and her great-granddog, Bruno. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara McCoy Shannon (Pittsburg, OK); her sisters-in-law, Maxine McCoy (Frederick, MD) and Alice Mizer (Jennings, KS); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home on Monday, November 2, 2026. Interment will be private at St. Paul’s Utica Cemetery.
