Linda Kay Praesel

Linda Kay Praesel, of Frederick, MD, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her husband and three children on January 24th at the age of 76. She was born on November 8, 1949 in Ivydale, West Virginia to Emerson and Beulah Mollohan.

Linda met the love of her life, Tom, in 1965, and they were married in July of 1972. Together they built a life centered on love and family. They were blessed with three children - Tommy, Kristen, and Jenny-who were the greatest joy of Linda’s life. Her proudest role was being a mother, and her endless love and support extended naturally to her cherished grandchildren.

For 35 years, Linda served as a dedicated in-home daycare provider, touching the lives of countless children and offering unwavering support to her daycare families. Her deep love for children and gentle, nurturing nature made every child feel safe, valued, and understood. Linda consistently went above and beyond, offering advice and extending care beyond regular hours when needed, and even sharing home-cooked meals with families during challenging times.

Linda found her greatest happiness in her family. She treasured holidays and trips to the Outer Banks with her children and grandchildren and took special pride in her role as “Grammy.” She delighted in time spent with her grandchildren, thoughtfully ensuring everyone’s favorite foods were on hand and that each child felt deeply loved. She especially enjoyed proudly cheering them on through their many activities and sporting events.

Linda will be remembered for her kindness, living by the golden rule, and her selfless way of always putting others first. She had a rare gift for making people feel special and truly seen. Our family could not have asked for a better wife, sister, mother, grammy, and matriarch. She will be missed every day, and her memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 54 years, Tom Praesel; her siblings, Brenda Weekley, Karen Wazir, and John David Mollohan; her children, Thomas Praesel, Jr. (Lauren) of Haddon Heights, NJ, Kristen Lang (Mike) of Frederick, and Jennifer Kline (John) of Frederick; and her grandchildren, Ella, Marlee, and Tommy Praesel; Jack, Julia, and Joshua Lang; and Reagan, Luke, and Andrew Kline.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Emerson and Beulah Mollohan; and her brother, Emerson Mollohan, Jr.
