Lola Mae Wastler

June 8, 1933 — March 23, 2024

Thurmont

Lola Mae Wastler passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 23, 2024.

She was born on June 8, 1933 in Old Fields, WV to Clifton and Golda (Merritt) Liller (deceased).  Lola was raised in Emmitsburg, MD, where she graduated from Emmitsburg High School and married her husband Franklin E. Wastler in 1951.

Lola and her husband Frank moved to Frederick and settled in the Yellow Springs area where they raised their two sons.  She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed many camping trips with her young family, especially to Cunningham Falls.  Her house was always the gathering location for neighborhood children, holiday celebrations and family reunions. Lola worked and retired from Safeway after 25 years of service. She and Frank built their mountain dream home where she enjoyed her tranquility, daily walks, and love of nature.  Later in life she enjoyed road and bus trips with her best friend Vivian and took her dream cruise to Alaska.  She especially enjoyed working in her beautiful flower gardens and attending Sunday evening services at Eyler’s Valley Chapel.  Lovingly and affectionately known as Mimi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she loved and cherished her family above all else. She enjoyed attending and sharing in all their activities.

Lola is survived by her sons, Franklin E. Wastler, Jr. (Melinda) and Roger A. Wastler (Holly); her grandchildren, Franklin E. Wastler, III (Hersha), Beth A. Wastler, Jared C. Wastler (Rhonda), and Amy J. McEachron (Troy); great grandchildren, Cameron O’Brien, Logan O’Brien, Haylee Wastler, Braidan Wastler, Katelyn Wastler, Alexandra Wastler, Calvin Wastler, Hunter Hawkins and Vivan McEachron. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert Liller, Shirley Knipple, Linda Clapsaddle, and Rosa Smith.

She is predeceased by her husband Franklin E. Wastler, Sr., as well as her siblings, Clifton Liller, Harold Liller and Howard Liller.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff and friends at Silverado Memory Care Unit for the care and compassion they provided during her stay, and to Frederick Health Hospice for the loving support given to her family.
