Luke A. Spiros, 82, of Mount Airy, passed from this life on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Atlee Hill in Westminster, MD. He was the husband of Carole C. Spiros his wife of 52 years.

Born on July 8, 1943, in Cambridge, MA, he was the son of the late Alexander Spiros and Aglaia Sarantos Spiros.

He was a graduate of Boston University with a Bachelors of Arts in Music.

Luke was a member of the United States Marine Corps and a member of United States Marine Band for 23 years and an active member of the Virginia Grand Military Band. He was a founding member of the International Tuba/Euphonium Association and founding member with Harvey Phillips of the Tuba/Euphonium Christmas.

He taught music at the Summer Band Camp For Adult Musicians in Pennsylvania and was a world renowned euphonium performer inspiring many young musicians, and was a member of the Frederick Spires Band. Luke was also a ham radio operator and a member of the Frederick Ham Radio Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sisters: Jane Spiros Naggar and husband Morris Naggar and DeeDee Spiros Merzon and husband Paul Merzon as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Spilios "Mickey" Spiros.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main Street in Mount Airy, MD where a celebration of Luke's life will begin at 11:00. Rev. Greg Quintrell will officiate. A light luncheon will follow in the church hall. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
