Marcia “Marcie” McMillen Baker, 78, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, surrounded by her loving family after a long and brave battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Born on August 10, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, Marcie lived a life filled with love, dedication, and joy.
Marcie is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Graham Baker; her children, Amy Baker (Caroline, Ethan, Jeremy), Joe Baker and his husband Jeffrey Werner (James), and Lindsey Baker. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A warm and vibrant soul, Marcie co-owned La Paz Mexican Restaurant, where she first met the love of her life, Graham. She later worked at Frederick High School, where she shared her kindness and care with students and colleagues alike.
Marcie’s life was defined by her generosity, humor, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. Whether she was welcoming guests at the restaurant, supporting students, or spending time with her loved ones, she brought warmth and laughter to every moment.
Marcie’s family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center and to Frederick Health Hospice, who provided loving support for both Marcie and the family for the past year.
A celebration of Marcie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 16 at Steinhardt Brewing Company (located at 340 East Patrick Street) from 1 pm - 4 pm, with family and friends invited to gather in celebration of Marcie’s remarkable life.
To honor Marcie’s memory, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Frederick Health Hospice or to Friends of Baker Park.
