It is with deep sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Mardi “Mimi” Marshall. She departed from this world peacefully at the age of 89 on September 16, 2025, surrounded by her family at home.
She was born on May 26, 1936, in The Dalles, Oregon to Paul and Lillian Meyers. She and her older brother, Stephen, grew up in Medford, Oregon. Her childhood home was a place of love, laughter, and comfort. She lived a life of grace, kindness, and dedication to her loved ones. She was the heart of her family, whose warmth, wisdom, and steady presence shaped the lives of all who knew and loved her.
Mardi will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering strength, her devotion and deep Faith, and her ability to make those around her feel cherished. She found joy in the simple things; it is her legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known her.
She is survived by her former husband, William J. A. Marshall; her four loving children - Jennifer (Stephen) Degnan, Geoffrey (Kristy) Marshall, Stephanie (Bret) Deffinbaugh, and Anastasia (Steve) Bettis. Her twelve adoring grandchildren - Emily, Lauren (Dan), Dominic, Hannah, Cara, Dylan, Anna Marie, Rowan, Katie, Colin, Xavier, and Brayden. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Magnus and Genevieve. All of whom will forever hold her memory close.
A Funeral Mass to honor Mardi and Rite of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 am, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michael’s Road, Mount Airy, Maryland 21771. Respects may be made from 10:00 am - 11:00 am in the Church. She will be laid to rest following the Mass at St. Michael’s Cemetery. A small reception will be held in the social hall at St Michael’s.
