Margaret Kruger

October 6, 1930 — June 22, 2025

Frederick

It is with great sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Margaret Stevens Kruger. She was born on October 6, 1930, in Newark, Delaware, and was raised on a farm in Chesapeake City, Maryland. Margaret’s journey took her to Baltimore, where she pursued her education at the University of Maryland School of Nursing. It was during her time in Baltimore that she met her future husband Joseph, embarking on a life filled with love and devotion.

Known for her warmth, generosity, and vibrant sense of humor, Margaret had an unwavering kindness that touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her spirit was exemplified in her career, where she dedicated her time to the University of Maryland and Kernan Orthopedic Hospitals, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her legacy is one of compassion and selflessness, offering a guiding light to all who knew her.

Margaret was deeply cherished by her family and friends, who lovingly remember her for the strength she exemplified and the joy she spread. She leaves behind her loving children: Ann Ballou and her husband Robert; Nancy Kruger and her husband William Donovan; and Joseph Kruger Jr. and his wife Julie. Margaret also held a special place in her heart for her son-in-law, Scott Wolfenden, and adored her grandchildren: Alicia March and husband Doug, Jessica Tennant husband Rob, and Scott Wolfenden and wife Ashleigh. She delighted in her role as great-grandmother to Karlie, Alivia, Ava, Ella, Isabella, Emma, Tobin, Charlotte, and Josie, who brought her immense joy and pride

She was predeceased by her parents Stanley and Marie Stevens; her husband Joseph and daughter Patti Wolfenden.

Though we mourn the loss of Margaret, we also celebrate her life and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. Her love for reading, gardening, and caring for others illustrated the depth of her character, and her memories will endure in the hearts of those she has touched.
