Maria Zenaida Enciso Bonilla

April 23, 1957 — November 24, 2023

Maria Zenaida Enciso Bonilla, 66 years old, of Bogota, Colombia, peacefully passed away on November 24, 2023 surrounded by loved ones after a pulmonary embolism resulting in cardiac arrest.

Maria was born on April 23, 1957 to Juan de Jesus Bonilla and Ana Isabel Bonilla in the city of Bogota, Colombia. After Maria graduated from Colsubsidio High School in 1974, she pursued a degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the National University of Colombia, in Bogota. Subsequently she relocated to the United States with her family, where she proceeded to complete her studies at the Eastern Nazarene College, where she became a pastor.  After graduation, she worked as both clergy and teacher for over 18 years. Maria was passionate about ministering and loved what she did for a living.

In 1974, she met her husband Edgar Enciso at a soccer meet where she was attending as an spectator to her uncle's game. Maria Zenaida & Edgar went on to have three daughters, Monica, Edith, and Sara.

Maria Zenaida retired in 2020 after eighteen years in the ministry. While retired, Maria had time to fully invest her time loving her family, by caring for her husband, grandson Amari, and great granddaughter Daniela.

Maria Zenaida was predeceased by her maternal grandfather Juan Barreto, maternal grandmother Zenaida Ramos de Barreto, brother in law Luis Clemente Camacho, and nephew Natan Yoel. She is survived by her father Juan de Jesus Bonilla, mother Ana Isabel Ramos de Bonilla, Sisters Esperanza Camacho, and Patricia Cupasachoa, brother Edgar Bonilla, husband Edgar Enciso, daughters Monica Bowser, Edith Fitzgerald, and Sara Toliver. Grandchildren Tiana Fitzgerald, Ciera Fitzgerald, Isaiah Fitzgerald, and Amari Matteo Bowser. Great granddaughter Daniela Sabrie Fitzgerald-Campbell and all of her loving extended family both in the United States and Colombia.

Maria will be remembered by her unwavering faith, her love and passion for her family, her happiness, organization, and integrity in everything she did.  Though she has now left us in the physical form, our comfort remains that we will see her again one day.
