Marie M. Bates, 84, of Knoxville, MD died Sunday November 6, 2016. Marie was born December 21, 1931 in Frederick, MD to the late Dorsey and Carrie Cramer Cook. She is the beloved wife of the late Edward Bates, Sr; mother of Tammy (Joe) Cooper, Edward (Debra) Bates, Jr., John (fiancee Marie) Bates; and the late Wanda Eaton, Ronnie, Kenny and Ricky Bates; sister of Betty (Johnny) Nicholson, Melvin (Shirley) Cook and Miller Cook; also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to nurses Stacey and Tammy and the rest of the staff of Hospice of Frederick County.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Furnace Mountain Presbyterian Church, 12496 James Monroe Highway, Lucketts, VA on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 10-11 am and where service will be held at 11 am. Interment at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
