Marie K. Boyer, 90, formerly of Boonsboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Creekside Village in Hagerstown.
Born on January 1, 1935, at home on Broad Street, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, to the late Horace B. and Hazel (Eshelman) Kauffman.
She was involved in her Waynesboro High School activities, serving as class secretary for three years. She was a majorette for two years and was also in the choral club. Marie enjoyed meeting with her classmates for their reunions.
Marie worked for Potomac Edison after high school. She was also employed, for many years, as an assistant to Rev. Roy Oswald.
She loved nature. Marie was active in the Monarch Association and was a talented gardener even selling her prize lilies at one time. In her later years, Marie was responsible for interviewing new cottagers for the newspaper at the (former) Ravenwood Campus.
Marie is survived by her son, Michael B Eyler and wife, Peggy. She also leaves stepchildren, Michael Boyer and wife, Donna, Kristen Kennedy and husband, David, Marcy Boyer, and Melissa Nearchos and husband, Greg. She will be remembered by grandchildren, Caitlin McKinney, Justin Boyer, Heather Schultz, Daniel Kennedy, and Zachary Gleim; and a great-granddaughter, Addisyn McKinney.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul E. Eyler; her second husband, Rev. Carroll L. Boyer; her youngest son, Matthew Evans Eyler; and brothers, Ellis Howard Kauffman and Linford Oscar Kauffman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main Street in Middletown, Maryland. Burial will be held at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery near the church in Middletown.
