Mark Scott Easton

Mark Scott Easton (Scott), 79, of Jefferson, MD, passed from this life on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Frederick Health Hospital, Frederick, MD. Scott was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and sailor, tough as nails.
 
Scott was an Electrician’s Mate during his time in the U.S. Navy, serving on the Guided Missile Destroyer, USS Sellers DDG-11 during active duty from 1965 - 1969. Immediately after the Navy, Scott put his experience to work at Verizon — dedicating 30 years to the company before his retirement in 1999.

Retirement enabled him more time to devote to what he loved - his family and community. He was active in the Jefferson Ruritan as a committee member and former president, volunteered at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick, MD, and remained close to his Navy shipmates through the USS Sellers alumni group as their treasurer for many years. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports, go fishing, and telling Navy stories. Earlier on he was a Boy Scout leader in Jefferson’s Troop 1066 and helped to coach PVYA soccer, baseball and softball.

Scott is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Easton; daughter, Christine Blackwood and her husband Pat Blackwood; son, Patrick Easton and his wife Kelly Easton; grandchildren, Ryan Blackwood and Conrad Easton.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Wilson Easton, mother Ora Lee Easton, and sister JoAnne Paris.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD, with service following at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Paul Baglyos of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Frederick.
