Mark Moore, 73, was born October 1, 1952 and went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2026 in his home surrounded by his wife and daughters. Mark was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in 2008 and went on to lead a remarkable life despite the prognosis. Mark is survived by his wife, Margo and daughters, Melanie and Laura Moore; his mother, Betty Lou Moore; his brother, Dean Perry Moore (the late Mary); and his sister, Linda Lou Ebersole (Jerry). He was preceded in death by his father, George William “Bud” Moore.

Mark was raised in Knoxville, MD and attended Brunswick High School class of 1970. His first career at Eastalco was interrupted when he was drafted in 1972. Mark’s time in the service was spent in Germany in the US Army where his love for travel began. Shortly after returning home he met his wife, Margo, of almost 47 years and they started their family together. After 23 years at Eastalco, Mark decided to change careers and join the United States Foreign Service as a Facility Manager. The work Mark did was as fulfilling for him as the opportunity to see every corner of the world with his family. He was posted in Hong Kong, Morocco, South Africa, India, Afghanistan, Australia and then back to his favorite posting, South Africa, before retiring in 2017. Of the many adventures and memories, Mark most enjoyed hundreds of rides on his Harley-Davidson across the beautiful African landscape with Margo and their friends.

As a man of few words, Mark will be remembered most for his actions. There wasn’t an appliance that he couldn’t fix or a task he wasn’t eager to complete and he was always motivated to work hard in all that he did. During his time at home Mark could often be found riding around and working on projects with his brother, Dean. Although he wouldn’t consider himself artistic, he took on wood working in his retirement and created many beautiful and timeless pieces that are nothing short of masterpieces. He especially loved to make rocking horses. Mark and Margo have been active members at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church over the years - both strong in their faith and devotion to the community. Mark was loyal to his country, his community, his family and to God. He will be greatly missed.

Mark will be laid to rest amongst family members at the Knoxville Reformed Cemetery during a private ceremony. A memorial service in Mark’s honor will be at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church on Friday, March 13 at 2 pm with a meal to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3346 Gapland Rd Rohrersville MD, 21779.
