Martha Ackley Obituary

We are sharing the sad news of the passing of Martha "Marty" Elizabeth Scott Ackley (August 14, 1933 - September 15, 2025), who passed away peacefully, at the age of 92, on Monday, September 15, 2025 surrounded by her family.

Marty lived a long and active life and was cherished by everyone she met. She raised five children with her first husband, the late Leonard Scott: Linda Jeffries, Gregory Scott, Lenny Scott; and the late Geary Scott and Mark Scott. She later found happiness and great love with the late Commander Paul Ackley, USN.

After Commander Ackley's retirement, they were active in their community in Middleburg, Florida, and served as leaders in the Morrocco Shrine in Jacksonville, Florida, for many years. Several years ago, they built a house in Lovettsville, Virginia, to be near family and continued a happy life together until Paul passed in 2024. Marty remained active until the weekend before she went into the hospital and was always happiest when surrounded by friends and family.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many special friends.

The family plans to have Paul and Marty interred together at Arlington National Cemetery. We are currently awaiting a date for the interment and will then plan a "Celebration of Life" for both.
