Mary Alice Smith

Mary Alice Smith, 90, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA. She was the loving wife of the late James William Smith, Jr., whom she married in 1956 and, who predeceased her in February 2000.

Born on May 2, 1936, in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ernest W. May and Lillian Mae (Allison) May.

She graduated from Frederick High School in 1954.

Mary retired from Monocacy Federal Credit Union - Assistant Manager and from Sheetz-Customer Service.

She loved to take day trips with friends and family and watching cooking shows.

She is survived by children, Vickie Taylor (husband, Robert) of Berkeley Springs, WV, Susan Eppley (husband, Marshall) of Sugar Grove, WV, and Michael Alan Smith of Frederick, MD; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Ernest W. May Jr. and David L. May; and daughter-in-law, Susan Smith.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD, with a funeral service to begin at 12 p.m.

Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, MD.
