Mary Ann Horn, beloved sister, aunt, great-aunt, godmother, and friend, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Mary was born on December 8, 1959, in Washington, DC, beloved daughter of Julius and Cecilia Horn. Growing up as the second youngest child of eight, she learned to be loud, a necessity for such a large household, and she learned to be kind, with a focus on always putting her family first. She passed peacefully on May 30, 2026, having been surrounded by family and friends.
Mary lived life with a smile on her face, and her joyous spirit brightened every room she entered. She treasured time with her family and especially loved celebrating the holidays, or any random Sunday, with a glass of red wine while chatting about the latest sports updates and sharing the amazing stories of eight siblings growing up in a three-bedroom house. Those sitting near would lean in close to listen and to join in with the laughter. Attending as many family events as possible, she always brought something; like her mouthwatering jalapeno popper dip, even though she was in a constant battle to make it just spicy enough, or her famous chocolate chip cookies made with Crisco, because in her opinion butter wasn’t an option. She always came with something that said, she loves you, she’s thinking of you, and she’s happy to be with you. She constantly reminded us of the power of family and just how precious the time we spend together really is.
She was passionate about so many things. She loved spending time at the beach and enjoyed traveling to visit family in Nashville and West Point. A devoted sports fan, she enthusiastically cheered for the Seattle Seahawks (her Super Bowl parties were legendary), Baltimore Orioles, Maryland Football tailgates, and the Washington Capitals. She had a special love for horses and enjoyed working at Rosecroft Racetrack for many decades. She also loved her second career hosting wine tastings and educating customers and her own palate about different varietals. Mary was the number one fan of Kenny Chesney and recruited many to join her in her love for country music. And this would not be a complete list without mentioning her love for Hallmark Christmas movies (especially in July), following the phases of the moon, and of course - Dunkin.
She is survived by her brothers and sister, Doug, Jim, Tony, Dave, and Karen, along with her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, 16 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, a beloved goddaughter, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory.
Mary is preceded in death by her brother, Bob Horn, and sister Julie Rolston.
Mary's loving heart, infectious laugh, and devotion to family and friends will be deeply missed.
