Mary A. Baldwin, 104, of Frederick, passed from this life on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Kline Hospice House. She was the loving wife of the late Robert E. Baldwin II.
Born on March 31, 1920, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. Schulz and Agnes (Fowler) Schulz.
Mary worked in the Librarian's Office at the Library of Congress, and was a first grade teacher at Highland Elementary School in Montgomery County Public Schools for 26 yrs.
She had many interests over the years including sports (bowling, swimming, tennis), international travel (20 consecutive years), and she loved gardening and had a green thumb. Mary was a freelance writer with her articles appearing the Frederick News Post and several senior magazines. She loved local theater and was a season ticket holder for many years with Way Off Broadway.
It's not easy to sum up 104 years of life, but Mary was a strong, stubborn, independent woman who never backed down. She was loved by all and will be terribly missed.
She is survived by daughter, Michele (Mickey) McKnew; grandsons, Scott and wife, Crystal (TN), and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Serenity, and Fletcher McKnew (TN); step-grandson, Matthew and wife, Lara; step-great grandchildren, Nathan and Morgan McKnew; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her children, Terry Ann Baldwin and Robert E. Baldwin III; and her siblings, Katherine Bradley, Robert J. Schulz, and George R. Schulz.
The family greatly appreciates Frederick Health Hospice for the loving care given to Mary.
There will be no viewing or visitation, and any services will be private for the family.
