Mrs. Mary Charlene Snyder, 69, of Frederick, MD went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at the Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, MD surrounded by her family after an extended battle with cancer.
Born March 30, 1957, in Frederick, Charlene was the daughter of Richard L. McKnight Jr. and Mary E. Thompson McKnight.
After graduating Frederick High School a year early in 1974, Charlene became a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who worked beside her husband, Gary L. Snyder, on the family dairy farm shipping milk for 44 years where they earned a 25-year production award and a quality producer award from the Maryland and Virginia Cooperative Association. The two celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2025. She enjoyed farm-life and won numerous ribbons at The Great Frederick Fair for her flowers and vegetables. Her joys included her family and friends, growing gigantic pumpkins, crocheting, sewing, shopping, dining out and attending and helping with activities at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, McKaig and the Walkersville United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband Gary, Charlene is survived by three children, Karen and husband Aaron, Sara and Samantha; three grandchildren, Paul, Annika and Izaak; three sisters-in-law, Paula Aboyoun, Terrena Shelton, and Mary McKnight; many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Carl R. McKnight, and her dear friend Toni Miller.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM - 12 PM on Tuesday, July 7 at Walkersville United Methodist Church, 22 Main St., Walkersville where funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick.
Memorial contributions may be made to Walkersville United Methodist Church or the Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy.
