Mary Smith

Mary Vaigneur Smith, 77, of Lusby, Maryland, passed from this life on Monday, November 29, 2021, peacefully surrounded by family.  She joins the love of her life and husband, Gary Lloyd Smith, who preceded her on February 26, 2021.

Born on October 18, 1944, in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Fred Olga and Erma Jean (Langford) Vaigneur.  She grew up with her older brothers, Reggie, Gene, and Fred in Mount Pleasant, SC.

Mary was blessed to have been married to her best friend and love of her life, Gary Smith.  They have a strong, passionate love with a mutual, deep friendship.  By marrying, they brought together two families and made them one strong and loving family.  They enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, boating, fishing, and spending time with their family.

Over the past nine months, Mary was constantly surrounded by loving family.

Mary is survived by her brother Fred (Penny) Vaigneur; children Wanda (Steve) Behrens, Rebecca (Jim) Wheatley, and George (Courtney) Zitzewitz; grandchildren Andrea, Brandon, Lauren, Kirsten, Meghan, Lindsey, Nathaniel, Gabrielle, Brett, and Hayden; great-grandchildren Ryan, Shayne, McKayla, Avery, Maddox, Miller, Merrick, Lennon, Ryker, and Madilynn.
In addition, Mary is survived by Gary’s family who she loved as her own: children Kevin Smith (Pam), Andy Smith (Kim), and Matthew Smith (Leigh Ayn); grandchildren Todd, Vaughn, Josh, Ethan, and Sophia; great-grandchildren Adalynn, and Alayna.

Interment will be with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
