Matthew Fast

Matthew Ryan Fast, 29, of Baltimore, Md. passed away suddenly, but peacefully, Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at his home. He is the loving husband of Jessica Elaine Fast.

Born September 9, 1986 in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Timothy L. and Sheryl L. Fast.

Matthew graduated from Thomas Johnson High School in 2004, and enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves while in High School. Matthew attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fl., where he met his wife, and graduated with a degree in Psychology.

Matthew served in Iraq with the 324th MP BN out of Chambersburg, Pa. in 2006-2007. In 2010-2011, he served in Afghanistan with the 443rd MP Company out of Owings Mills, Md. Matthew was a Sergeant First Class, most recently serving with 3/318 OC/T BN.

After college he returned to Maryland to work for the Frederick City Police Department. Matthew was a police officer, passionately and selflessly serving the city.

Matthew married Jessica Fast of Sarasota, Fl. in 2010. Matthew was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and loved the Philadelphia Eagles. He loved his two dogs, Wrigley and Bear, dearly. Matthew is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick and the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #91.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica, parents Timothy and Sheryl Fast of Frederick, older brother Randy Fast of Frederick, his mother-in-law Kimberly Ross of Sarasota, Fl, father-in-law Pat Ross of Sarasota, Fl., his grandmother Kathryn Fast of Joplin, Mo., his grandparents Gary and Shirley Smith of Warsaw, NY and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016 at the International Community Church, 123 Byte Drive, Frederick with Pastor David Oravec and Pastor Doug Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
