Maurice Eugene Labbe

Maurice (Moe) Eugene Labbe, 77, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on September 9, 2026, at University of Maryland Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Jane (Foote) Labbe, his wife of 58 years.

Born on October 2, 1948, in Lewiston, Maine, Moe was the son of Leo D. Labbe and Doris (Ouellette) Labbe. He graduated from Saint Dominic High School in 1966 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Bentley University in 1970. He worked as the controller of a hotel group in Waltham, Massachusetts, for 32 years. In 1990, the family moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he worked as an accountant at S.G. Pinney and Hospice of Stuart. In 2005, Moe and Jane moved to Frederick, Maryland, where he worked as the senior accountant at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, until he retired in 2017.

Since retirement, Moe has filled his time with jigsaw puzzles (one or two a week!), reading, collecting stamps, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the New England Patriots and was an enthusiastic supporter of all Boston sports teams. He loved fishing, camping, word games, and playing Blackjack. He was a soft-spoken man of few words, but he loved a good pun and “dad” joke and never turned down a casserole.

Moe was a true fighter, having battled numerous health issues over the last 10 years. His wife, Jane, was always by his side, caring faithfully for him, a true testament to the love that they shared.

Moe is survived by his wife, Jane; son Michael Labbe (Anne) of Sharon, Massachusetts; daughter Laura Czarnecki (Joseph) of Frederick, Maryland: grandsons Dylan, Garrett, and Noah Labbe, and Ethan and Ryan Czarnecki: and brother Marc Labbe of Auburn, Maine. He is predeceased by his father, Leo D. Labbe, mother, Doris (Ouellette) Labbe, and sister, Louise Levesque.

The family wishes to thank extended family, friends, and wonderful neighbors for their love and support. They also wish to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at University of Maryland Medical Center for their care over the years.

Service and burial will be in Maine at a date to be determined.
