Michael Evan Anders, 66, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. 

Born on April 18, 1958, in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late John William Anders and Marguerite “Peggy” Jane (McDonough) Anders. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Anders; and his other parents, Ralph and Betty Reeder.

Mike graduated from Boonsboro High School Class of 1977. He went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy from 1977 to 1983 and received an Honorable Discharge.

Mike retired from the Maryland Division of Corrections after 24 years of service. He was employed, after retirement, with the Washington County Highway Southern Section for 12 years where, at the age of 60, he retired.

He is survived by his wife, of 42 years, Donna Anders; sons, Michael Anders, II (Shandi), Joshua Anders (Melanie), grandchildren; Cierra Anders, Daeva Anders, Liyah Zombro, Etta Anders, Dylan Zombro, Michael Anders, III; brother, Mark Anders, (Ginny); sister-in-Law, Cindy Zang (Chuck, IV); nephews, Chuck, V, Cort, Colton, and Brad Anders; and niece, Chrissy Anders.  Later in his life he enjoyed Thirsty Thursday with his friend, Mark Burns, and the crew.  

Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, grilling and cooking and having an ice-cold Budweiser. He was an avid collector of various types of models and guns.  He loved tinkering in his garage, flying his drones, riding, working on his scooter, and playing cards and Yahtzee. You could always find him enjoying the campfire, talking, listening to music, and enjoying his life.  He enjoyed all things racing, Star Trek, Star Wars (movies and models), the Green Bay Packers and looking at the stars with his telescope. Mike frequently reminisced and spoke about his time in the Navy. 

​A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the McClellan Gun Club, 5241 Redhill Road, Keedysville, Maryland.
