Michael Gue, Sr.

Mr. Michael E. Gue Sr., 58, of Mt. Airy , died peacefully on Saturday January 29, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was the loving husband of Linda L. Gue.

Born on June 25, 1952 in Frederick , he was the son of Margaret Hartman Fritz  of Mt. Airy and the late Clyde E. Gue. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather Charles Fritz.

He was currently working for NIST in Gaithersburg . He was a member of the American Legion Post 191, the Sons of the American Legion and a former member of the Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Department were he enjoyed cutting french fries at the annual Mt. Airy carnival.

He was a loving husband, father and a devoted grandfather who enjoyed spending his free time with his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are children, Michael E. Gue Jr. and wife Cindy of New Market and Michelle Bowen and her husband Thomas of Mt. Airy. Grandchildren; Caitlan, Colton , Taylor , Ashley, Dalton and Emily. Brothers  and sister, Ben Gue of Mt. Airy, William Gue and wife Dana of Thurmont, Susan Holt and husband Robert of Mt. Airy and Robert Fritz and wife Christine of Mt. Airy. Mother in law, Frances Phebus of Frederick . Brother in law, Charles Phebus of Frederick and sister in law Darlene Horman and husband Randy of Frederick. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday February 3, from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mt. Airy, where funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday February 4, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery .

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made in Michael’s name to the Sons of the American Legion ,Squadron 191, P. O. Box 24 , Mt. Airy MD. 21771.
