Dolly Burch, daughter of the late Oscar and Mabel Ramsburg, passed away peacefully after a long and fulfilling life. Born in the Catoctin Furnace area of Frederick County, her early years were marked by the simple beauty of rural life. She often recalled walking dirt roads through Blue Mountain to attend a one-room schoolhouse, memories that stayed with her throughout her life.
Her childhood journey took her from Catoctin Furnace to Mt. Pleasant and eventually to Frederick, Maryland, where she especially cherished her time living on Wilson Place, surrounded by close family and friends.
Dolly was married to the late Marshall H. Burch, who preceded her in death in 1983. She was an active member of her community, belonging to the American Legion of Frederick, the Frederick Moose Lodge, and the Rainbow Bells of Frederick.
In her later years, Dolly moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where she spent the last 20 years of her life, close to family.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Hahn of Raleigh, and was predeceased in 2019 by her other daughter, Bonnie K. Harris. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Staci Harris-Haines and her husband Robert of Ventura, California, and Tim Hahn and his wife Sharon of Raleigh, North Carolina. Dolly also loved her two great-grandsons, Dylan and Tyler Haines.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Ramsburg of Brunswick, Maryland, wife of her late brother Robert Ramsburg. Dolly was preceded in death by her sisters Doris Cavell of Frederick and May Carty of Chester, Pennsylvania. Dolly had two wonderful son-in-laws, both now deceased, Ted E. Hahn and John Harris, both also from the Frederick area. In addition, she held a special place in her heart for her many step-siblings, nieces, and nephews, who stayed in touch and were a loving and important part of her life.
A private graveside service will be held this Saturday at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont, Maryland.
Dolly’s unique spirit, and love of family - especially for her siblings - will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
