Mildred Catherine Purtell (nee Vojtek), age 85, beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and educator, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 30, 2025.

Born on October 19, 1939, in Little Falls, NY, to the late Samuel and Christina Vojtek, Mildred's life was marked by an unwavering dedication to her family and her profession as a high school teacher. A graduate of SUNY Albany, where she earned her bachelor's degree, Mildred committed herself to fostering a love for learning in her students.

Mildred cherished her roots in Little Falls, NY, and held fond memories of her favorite places, including Hartford, WI, and Asheville, NC. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially the companionship of her cherished cats, Dusty, Little White, Max, and Spike. She enjoyed watching soap operas, attending her Baltimore Orioles games, and watching the spirited games of the Baltimore Ravens.

Mildred is survived by her brother, Samuel Vojtek (spouse Geraldine); sister, Evelyn Gronosky; and her three beloved children, daughters, Kathleen Purtell (fiancé Chris) and Karen Purtell; and son, William Purtell (spouse Kelley). She had a special fondness for her godchildren (Dee, Billy, and Krisie); her grandson (Chase); her cousin’s children (Kachie and Robbie); her niece’s children (Kelina and Jayden); and her late husband’s brothers, sisters, spouses, and children.

Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Gregory J. Purtell, who passed away in 2011, a loss she carried with grace and strength throughout her remaining years.

As we remember Mildred Catherine Purtell, we celebrate a life well-lived and her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
