Born, July 28, 1951 in Cumberland Md, she was the daughter of the late Eugene F. Hare and Dorotha Jane (Blaker) Hare.
Janie graduated from Fort Hill High School (69) and went on to graduate from Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland. She was a retired Editor and E-marketing Manager from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC), in Rockville, MD & Manassas, VA. In her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, taking care of her grandchildren, helping others, and was very involved with her church (Walkersville UMC).
She is survived by her three sons, Jason Piper (Lewis), Scott Piper (Lane), and Charles Piper (Michelle); her brother Charles Hare (Tricia); her sister in law Frances Hare; her brother in law Ed Piper (Linda) and Grandchildren, Arianna Little (Kyle), Joey Mullenax, Jaxson and Waylon Piper and Great-Grandchild Casen Little who brought so much joy and purpose to Grandma’s life after the passing of her husband.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17 from Walkersville United Methodist Church, 22 Main Street, Walkersville, MD.
Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, 14205 Pleasant Valley Road North East, Flintstone, MD 21530.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to Walkersville UMC, 22 Main Street, Walkersville, MD 21793.
