Nickolas Protos

Mr. Nickolas Protos, 84, of Middletown, Maryland, died, Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Frederick Memorial  Hospital.  He was the devoted husband of Fern Walker Protos.

Born August 6, 1930 in Washington, D. C., he was the son of the late James and Sophia Manolas Protos

Mr. Protos was past owner and operator, with his brother Matthew, of the James III Restaurant in Rockville.  He was a self made business man, hard worker, and lived his Greek Orthodox Faith. He had a great love of food and always enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.
Mr. Protos served his country in the U.S. Navy and was proud to be an American. Nickolas enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, talking politics, going to Atlantic City, playing poker, and in earlier years fishing and going to the beach.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children James Protos of Reston, VA, Christopher Protos and wife Christine of Adamstown and Soly Zdanis and husband Richard of Germantown, grandchildren Ryan, Alexandra and Ivy Protos and Raphael, Minnie, and Isabel Zdanis, his siblings Toula Bockting, Matthew Protos, Mary Hantzes and Agnes Karanikas.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.  He was preceded in death by a son Stephen Nickolas Protos and a grandson Nickolas G. Protos.

The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick , Monday, September 1, from 2-4 and 7-9:00 pm
A Trisagion prayer will be said at 8:30pm
Funeral Services will be held at St. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 920 W. 7th Street, Frederick, Tuesday, September 2, at 10:30 am.  Father Peter    will officiate.
Interment Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, VA
