Norma Jean Selby-Buice

November 28, 1945 — December 23, 2023

Thurmont

Norma Jean Selby-Buice (“Jeanie”) passed away at home on December 23, 2023. She was born on November 28, 1945 to her loving parents Mildred (Elliott) and Kenneth Wilson.

Jeanie grew up and lived most of her life in Montgomery County, Maryland, and spoke fondly of her parents, siblings, and her childhood dog Bonnie.

She took great pride in being a homemaker, and was a devoted mother focused mainly on creating a warm home for her family. At one time, she also worked at a jewelry store where she delighted in talking with customers and marveling at the beauty of gemstones, leading her to obtain a gemology certificate. Additionally, Jeanie was a licensed make-up artist and studied color. Her appreciation of color in paintings, cosmetics, and fashion captivated Norma Jean's artistic spirit.

Jeanie had various interests that reflected her affinity for style, beauty in various forms, and healthy lifestyle. She delved into subjects such as nutrition, vitamins, and exercise. She liked a leisurely bicycle ride and for many years was dedicated to workouts. Singing with the Thurmont Senior Center’s Canaries and her dear friend Patsy Troxell brought joy to her and others. Bible study with her friend Sandy was of significant importance to her as well. She and her late husband, Ron, traveled together, often to Florida for the car races, and to other adventures in the U.S. and beyond.

She was a personable, fun, and loving woman with a strong faith in God. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will forever remember the light she emanated.

Jeanie is survived by her children, Michael Selby and Victoria Selby. Additionally, she leaves behind her son-in-law Robert Triplett, sister Leona Gallawa, brother Kenneth Wilson Jr., and former husband Lyndon E. Selby Jr. They will carry her memory close to their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald Buice, her mother, father, brother Jimmy Wilson, and sister Judy Wilson.
