Patricia (Pat) Lou (Givens) Neely, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17th, 2026, after a long and brave battle with dementia. She is survived by her husband of nearly 67 years, Joe Neely. Pat is also survived by her four daughters, Mary Beth (Dave) Woodford, Pam Neely, Debby Neely, and Nancy (David) Becker. She fiercely loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Drew (Ally) Woodford, Megan (Paul) Conteh, Hayley (Silas) Kelly, and Taylor Becker making their favorite dishes, keeping a candy drawer well-supplied, and giving the best hugs. Recently, she was blessed with her first great-grandchild, Sloane Haven Conteh, who always made her smile.
Pat was born on October 27, 1940, in Salem, West Virginia to Raymond and Yvonne (Davis) Givens. She was a graduate of Salem High School Class of 1958. Pat was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker and worked part-time for Pittsburgh Plate Glass, her husband's State Farm Insurance agency in Philippi, West Virginia, and Mid-Atlantic Petroleum Distribution Association.
She was incredibly sharp and truly enjoyed working with numbers. While she often appeared quiet, she was a gifted negotiator. Pat was also a passionate sports enthusiast, loyal to the WVU Mountaineers, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Wizards, and Baltimore Ravens. It was common to find her watching two or three games simultaneously. Beyond sports, she was an avid puzzler, a tenacious crab picker, enjoyed a good manicure, and deeply loved spending time at the beach with a cold diet coke. Over the years, Pat was fortunate to have enjoyed many wonderful trips around the globe with Joe. She lived for her family and cherished every family celebration. Above all, Pat lived her life with strong faith and found great joy in singing along to old-time gospel hymns.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 and Wednesday, April 22 from 10-11 am at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.
A celebration of Patricia's life journey will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A. Frederick. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers, donations to honor Pat can be made to her favorite organizations that she believed are making a difference in our world - the ’Mid-Atlantic Fellowship of Christian Athletes Womens Ministry https://www.fcamidatlanticwomen.org/donate and Reynoldsville Baptist Church (PO Box 136, Reynoldsville, WV 26422).
Pat will be forever missed and always loved.
