Patricia Ann Smith

Patricia Ann Smith (Patti), 73, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away on January 26, 2026, at Doey’s House in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Born on January 15, 1953, in Leesburg, Virginia, Patti was the daughter of the late William C. and Ruth Ann Dinges.

Patti was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her world, and she found her greatest joy in time spent with those she loved.

She was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and quiet strength. Patti had a way of making people feel welcome and cared for, offering love through her thoughtfulness, loyalty, and steady presence. Her kindness and compassion left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

Patti retired from Star Community in Hagerstown, Maryland, in January 2025 after 18 years of dedicated service. Her clients and coworkers held a very special place in her heart, and she formed many meaningful relationships through her work. After retiring, she missed them dearly and often spoke fondly of the people who meant so much to her over the years.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Terry Smith; her sons, Kevin Dinges and Anthony Hines (Jessica); and her daughter, Samantha Smith. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Michaela Hewitt (Harry), T.J. Hines (Karissa), Elizabeth, Taylor, Karleigh, Kinley, and Keegan; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Avery. She is also survived by her special nephew, Tom Knott.

In addition to her parents, Patti was predeceased by her brothers, William “Joe” Dinges, Ronald “Whitey” Dinges, and David Dinges; her sister, Betty Shaffer; and her special nephew, Timmy Knott.

Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched.
