Patrick James Ellis passed away peacefully at his home in Myersville, Maryland, surrounded by those he loved, on December 8, 2025. Pat was born in March of 1953 in Bethesda, Maryland.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Jenny; his children, Christina Ellis; Kelly Ellis-Neal and her husband Bill; Casey Ellis and her husband Robert; Ryan Morgan and his wife Sarah; and Sarah Bussard and her husband Clay. His grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Peaka” and who were truly the light of his life, include William Neal, Jaxon Dunn, Cecilia Dunn, Brooks Bussard, Morgan Bussard, and Olivia Morgan.
He is also survived by his best friends Ted and Gloria Bamforth and their daughter Elise; Kristi and Ben Stevenson and their children Kate and Lucas Makowski and his wife Rebecca and their daughter Mia, and the newest member of the family, Patrick James Makowski. His faithful companion, Dutch, never left his side.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Jane Ellis, and his brother, Michael Ellis.
Pat graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 1971. He was a landscaper-or as he liked to call himself, a “ditch digger.” With his creative mind, he could turn a blank field into a personal Disney World. His imagination never stopped creating.
Known to many of his friends as “The Fatman,” Pat was famous for his love of cooking BBQ and those lucky enough to taste it knew it was truly the best. Pat loved going to casinos and walking out with more than he went in with. In his younger years, he loved racing cars and deep-sea fishing. He had many stories-and every single one was true, even when they seemed unbelievable. He cherished his trips to Florida and enjoyed taking cruises. He left this world with nothing left undone. Pat truly lived life to the fullest.
Patrick Ellis was a man larger than life. His presence was undeniable, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends on December 14, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Maryland.
