Patsy Ann Ellen Wastler 87 of Frederick, Maryland passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 7, 2026, at Frederick Health Hospice.
Born June 15, 1938, in Burkittsville, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Herbert B. & Alma G. Karn Merryman. She was the wife of the late Yarnell P. Wastler
Patsy graduated from Middletown High School class of 1956. After graduating she attended Martinsburg Beauty School in Martinsburg, WV where she received her Certificate in Cosmetology.
Patsy was co-founder of Yarnell P. Wastler & Sons, Inc. with her former husband Yarnell. In the early years of business Patsy was the bookkeeper. She was a devoted homemaker and mother with a deep love of family and caring for others. Gathering her family together to enjoy a meal made her very happy. You could always count on her to have a chocolate cake w/peanut butter icing, lemon lush or coconut cream pie for dessert, her cooking was outstanding. She was always supportive of her children & grandchildren and very proud of them. She had many special talents, especially her love of quilting, she made sure all her children & grandchildren had quilts that were made special for each one. Over the years she enjoyed traveling with her many friends on Barbara Rice Tours. Patsy had a deep faith and was an active member of Lewistown United Methodist Church, leading the mission committee.
Patsy is survived by her children Shari Wastler, Sandy Wastler Eberly (Tom), Brian Wastler (Jan) and Brad Wastler (Faye). She had seven grandchildren Nicholas Cook (Debbie), Greg High (Nicole), Kara Kirschner (Dan), Wesley Joy, Patrick Wastler (Heather), Bradley Wastler (Cathleen) and Whitney Nusbaum (Marty). She is also remembered by her great grandchildren Kyle High, Randy Cook, Alan Cook, Pansy May Cook, Landen Kirschner, Atley Nusbaum, Leeland Nusbaum and Brinkley Wastler and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will truly be missed by her sisters Libby Adams (Paul) and Brenda Ingram (Richard), she was preceded in death by her sister Mary Louise Lewis and niece Lisa Cline – Mills.
The family will receive friends on Friday April 17, 2026, from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10 a.m. until start of the service 12:00 noon at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Pastor Mark Claiborne, Sr. will officiate. Interment will be private at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Frederick Health ER and the Frederick Health Hospice Staff for their care and compassion during her brief stay. Also, a special thank you to the Staff at Somerford -Seaton in Frederick for their exceptional care. Patsy had resided with them since 2020.
Memorials donations may be made to Lewistown United Methodist Church, 11032 Hessong Bridge Road, Thurmont, MD 21788 in honor of the mission committee to carry on her love of caring for others.
