Patti Laverne Hess

Patti Laverne Hess, 77, of Smithsburg, Maryland, formerly of Frederick, MD passed from this life on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Doey's House in Hagerstown, MD. She was the loving wife of the late George Everett Hess who died in 2004.

Born on February 28, 1949, in Frederick, MD, she was the daughter of the late Carmen Joseph Donovan and June Lorraine (Eichelberger) Donovan.

She was a graduate of the first class of Governor Thomas Johnson High 1967.

Patti worked in medical administration at Radiology Associates of Frederick, Dr. Cho, Dr. Kim, Women's Health Group, Dr. Loren Busselberg, Plastic Surgery, and Homewood of Frederick

She was a volunteer with FMH Auxillary, Lions Club, cookie club, Brook Hill friends, The Great Frederick Fair, and Elks Chapter 684. She was a long-time member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church. Patti was an avid New York Yankee fan. She loved animals, bingo, the beach, vacationing in Williamsburg, VA, cooking, and gardening.

Her family was of utmost importance to her. They were very close and shared many family memories. All things shall pass. The key to a successful relationship is compromise.

She is survived by daughters, Wendi Barrick (Mark), Jenni Meister (Joseph), and Kati Gastley (Allen Jr.); grandsons, Sean Barrick (Erica), and Donovan Kozak; granddaughters, Allison Staley (Kyle), Delaney Kozak, Natalia Meister, Madison Gastley, Isabella Meister, and Aubri Gastley; great-grandson, Landon Staley; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Staley; sister, Susie Lucas (Terry); sister-in-law, Barbara Barbe; niece, Carrie Lucas (Tim Price, fiancé'); nephew, Joseph Lucas (Shannon); great-nephews, Ryan Lucas & Avery Roberts; great-niece, Alyssa Roberts; and special friend/caregiver Thresa Salary.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD, 21702, with Rev. Dr. Dana Werts officiating.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick. The family will be having a light lunch at church following interment. All are welcome.
