Paul Warren Andrew, age 79, passed peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2026.
there is nothing Paul loved more than being a Pap to his nine grandchildren, and there is no one who could ever do it better than him.
He was born on October 4th, 1946 to the late Clarence and Edith Andrew and was the 14th of 18 children. Paul grew up in the country and his heart for the outdoors never waned, with his passion for hunting carrying him into retirement. As a boy, he worked on Roscoe and Maryann Harbaugh’s farm, and as a teenager began learning how to paint, weld, and repair automobiles. Paul did finishing work for Hoke’s Furniture, although, nothing compared to his natural talent for painting and welding repair. He used those talents working for General Cable and Stutz Air Technology Systems until he retired in 2012. Always wanting to be busy, Paul also started his own painting business in 2009 and retirement found him continuing to provide that same outstanding quality work for customers who knew just what having work done by Paul Andrew meant.
He married the love of his life, Jeanie, in October of 1985 and they quietly built a life centered around their kids, and eventually their grandkids, on several of the prettiest acres in Maryland, just a stone’s throw from where he grew up. He always enjoyed time spent with his many neighbors and friends, but there is nothing Paul loved more than being a Pap to his nine grandchildren, and there is no one who could ever do it better than him. His absence leaves a hole in each of their hearts. He was widely respected, immeasurably loved, and will be deeply missed by so many.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward, Martin, George, Donald, and Samuel; and his sisters, Betty Stambaugh, Mary Brown, Anna Hughes, and Ruth Shane.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie, his three children, James, Kris (Eric) Holocker, and Tim (Trish) Cole; nine grandchildren, Taylor Andrew, Logan Andrew, Allison Holocker, Nicolas Holocker, Adrianne (Caleb) Westbrook, Seth (Josie) Beaton, Caden (Ashlynn) Beaton, Andrew Cole, and Joshua Cole; his great-granddaughter, Hazel Beaton, three brothers, James, Eugene (Rosie), and Franklin (Sheila); and five sisters, Rosie Eyler, Sarah McNair, Barbara (Jerry) Wantz, Harriett (Lee) Burman, and Belinda Fogle.
He was widely respected, immeasurably loved, and will be deeply missed by so many.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 27th, with viewing at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m. at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 104 E. Main Street in Thurmont with Rev. Tim May officiating. Final resting place ceremonies will be held at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Frederick. An opportunity to speak in remembrance of Paul will be offered during the service and friends and family are encouraged to share, if their hearts are so moved. Expressions of sympathy may be offered to the family at StaufferFuneralHome.com.
