Paul's greatest love was playing music.

Paul W. Barrick, 73, was born in Frederick, MD on April 5, 1953 to the late Judge Samuel W. Barrick and Joan Johnson Barrick. He attended Mercersburg Academy in his formative years before attending and graduating from Thomas Johnson High School in 1971. After graduating from University of Maryland with degrees in Political Science and Accounting, he began a career in property development.

Paul was adventurous, always taking on new and interesting projects. In the early 2000s, he purchased a 47ft cabin cruiser and remodeled it to make it his home for many years. He boated the ICW from MD to Florida for a few seasons before permanently docking in Florida and making Ft. Myers his home. When Paul grew tired of boat life, he ventured across the country and back on his motorcycle. In the last few years, he custom built a sprinter van, traveling to various wilderness areas to pursue his beloved hobbies of fishing, kayaking, and biking. But Paul's greatest love was playing music. He was an accomplished musician and was asked to sit in with many bands in MD and FL. He formed a duo with his friend Kevin, K2 and the Unusuals, and they became a musical fixture at Bonita Bills, in Ft. Myers.

Paul is survived by his two daughters, Sarah Barrick Starr (Ian) and Samantha Barrick (Don); three grandchildren, Stella Starr, Landis Murphy and Emmett Murphy; his sister, Linda Barrick Lebherz (Chuck); his brother, Mark Barrick (Wendi); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Paul passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2026, after a brief battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life will be held for extended family and friends of Paul's from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Dutch's Daughter, 581 Himes Avenue, Frederick, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the charity of one's choice in Paul's memory.
