Paul, age 87, went home to be with his Lord on March 9, 2026 in Frederick, Maryland. He and his wife Barbara lived in Newark, Delaware before moving to new Market, MD in 2014.
He loved his own family and his church families. He attended every piano recital, swim meet, and band concert in which his children participated. In addition to his long career at the DuPont Company, Paul was active in church leadership at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Newark, DE and was an active member at Mount Airy Presbyterian Church in Mt. Airy, MD. During his retirement years, he did webpage development and support for the church and for the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) missions organizations, as well as for a few friends.
Paul was born in Ajo, AZ in 1938 and moved to San Diego, CA in 1941. He graduated from Hoover High School in 1956 and received a BS in Engineering and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley. Upon graduation, he joined the DuPont Company in Wilmington Delaware, where he had a 35-year career in various departments, including Engineering, Textile Fibers, Corporate Information Technology, and Central Research.
In 1963 he married Barbara Ann Snow, whom he met at a small boarding house off Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington. They were married for 54 years, before Barbara preceded him in death in 2017.
Paul and Barbara enjoyed being a host family for foreign students at the University of Delaware, several of whom became like family. These students came from various countries including Israel, France, Spain, Japan, and the Netherlands.
Paul is survived by his two married children Kimberley Z. Cramer (George), Warren A. Zitlau (Heather Gregg), and by one granddaughter, Lydia. He is also survived by his long-time childhood friend and companion, Georgia Phillips.
A funeral service will be at Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Mt. Airy, MD at 17455 Old Frederick Rd, Mount Airy, MD 21771, on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 1:30 pm. Visitation will be during the preceding half hour. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington, DE on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 11:00 am. Friends may also attend the brief graveside service there.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made either to the Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church (PCA) or the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Newark, DE (308 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE 19711).
