Frederick

Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Hutzell Carmack, 102, died on July 19, 2024 at Homewood at Crumland Farms where she had been a resident for almost 20 years. She was the wife of the late James W. Carmack. Pauline was born on Valentines Day 1922 to Annie and Webster Hutzell.

Better known as "Polly" she was employed as a cafeteria manager for Harmony Grove and Rock Creek Schools.

During retirement, you would find Polly volunteering for Frederick Health Hospital and her church. Bowling, golfing, quilting and embroidering kept her busy. Taking long walks with her devoted feline companion by her side was pure enjoyment. Lunch with the ladies of The Red Hats Society was a must. Her number one activity was shopping for clothes. According to her grandchildren, their "Nana" was the best dressed grandmother.

Surviving are her four daughters: Ann Smith (Joseph), Donna Noller, Mary Jane Carmack, Linda Stup (Mike), 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Mildred Reid and son-in-law Gary Noller.

Inurnment will be private.
