Pauline Elizabeth Smith

Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Smith, 94 of Thurmont, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at St. Catherine's Nursing Home in Emmitsburg. She was the wife of 60 years to the late Ross V. Smith, Sr. who died on December 21, 1996.

Born in Thurmont on July 18, 1912 she was the daughter of the late Carl Stanley and Lottie Elizabeth (Creager) Gall. In 1945, she and her husband started and operated the Hillside Turkey Farm in Thurmont.

A member of St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thurmont, she was in her earlier days an active member throughout the Thurmont community. An avid Bridge player, she traveled extensively throughout the world in her later years.

Survivors include her children; Anne Knoll and husband Ralph of West Chester, PA, Ross V. Smith, Jr. and wife Grace and James W. Smith and wife Bonita all of Thurmont, Carlotta L. Antonelli and husband Michael of Cedar Rapids, IA; nineteen grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren also survive her. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betsy Ross Laster and a sister, Louise G. Royer.

Services: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the St.. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Bonnie Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont.
There will be no viewing.
